Who makes up the Bay View Equestrian Team?
A part of the Interscholastic Equestrian Association Zone 4, the Bay View Team runs out of Bay View Farms and is open to riders who are interested in competition that are in middle and high school. Started in 2010, the team has grown to include western, huntseat, and dressage disciplines. Team members from the Bay View team have gone on compete at IEA Zone 4 Finals and IEA Western Nationals in 2013 and 2015-17.
What makes this different?
No need to own a horse!! When attending competitions, teams supply competition horses for the rides. Horses are used in other IEA programs and are approved for safe uses in all IEA competitions.Students ride horses that are furnished by the host barn and chosen by random draw. The use of personal tack is not allowed and limited schooling is permitted. This equalizes competition variables and tests the horsemanship of the contestants.
Classes are offered in four ability levels: beginner, novice, intermediate, open. Any combination of ability levels on a team is permissible, but it is advantageous to have at least one rider in every class to be competitive as a team.
Points are tracked for individual rider accomplishments AND for overall, team accomplishments. Individuals and teams earn points to qualify for regional, zone and national finals. So there are multiple opportunities to qualify for regionals, zones and nationals!
